Tuesday, 6 August 2013

A simple heartfelt thank you can make us feel so good. Similarly, our spirits can be raised by a simple acknowledgement and encourages us increase our efforts. Why don't we make efforts to thank others, when we know it makes a huge difference to our attitude by lifting us.

In order to celebrate the National Day of Thanksgiving, Australians are invited on Saturday the 25th of May. The Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Governor General endorsed the day as it was first celebrated on 17th June 2003. The official website emphasizes that this isn’t just another event, but an opportunity to thank those who help make up our community.

" To celebrate and give thanks as a nation for God given heritage and to demonstrate the values of honour, respect, thankfulness and gratitude is the unique opportunity given to Australians through the National Day of Thanksgiving.  It is a day to say thanks for all the things we take for granted. Let us use this day to be a blessing to those who have been a blessing to us during the past year. Who will you be thanking? Thank the Police men for their tough work within community. How about who misses out recognition but makes your day easier. When was the last time you said thanks to God for the gift of life itself? You don't have to be living down under to take a few moments of reflection to thank God, even though this is an Australian initiative. We also focus on the specific sectors of community as well as thanking people who make our life better. We are thanking people who work in the judicial system, including solicitors, barristers, judges, court officials, police and administrative staff. Make your plans and decide who will you be thanking.

Thanksgiving Table Setup Methods 2013 Style

Monday, 5 August 2013

If you are setting your Thanksgiving table, you are not alone even if you are hosting your Thanksgiving in your family or even if its your first year. Thanksgiving is something most of us look forward to all year long. Without the hustle that comes with Christmas or Hanukkah, Thanksgiving provides an opportunity to be with friends and family.

One of the best things in life is suiting down with family and enjoying a fantastic meal. Seasonal enjoyments is one of the best thing about the holiday. Autumn-inspired foods such as pumpkin pie, corn, butternut squash, and cranberry sauce fill our senses with their mouth-watering aromas. And autumn colors entice us and fill us with the appreciation of the beauty of the season.

For starters, the darling leaf and fall table setting holders might impress your family guests. Wont it? A lovely addition to the table decoratively might be by including an Autumn or Fall themed candles. "Pass the potatoes please", and underneath they find an attractive autumn or fall trivet protecting the table! Leaf shaped dishes hold the olives and condiments. By adding charm, Autumn leaves coasters protect the table from the drinks. Leaf shaped condiments hold olives and condiments. And maybe a turkey shaped iced cookie that arrives already baked, iced, and darling-just ready for you to hand out to your guests. Use a Fall themed wine bottle stopper to add a festive touch after dinner. Also use a 'take home and enjoy' fall themed mini syrup bottles to send your guests home with it. Over a few days, while putting their holiday decor, they will be thinking about you. By putting a fall themed or leaf shaped soaps in your bathroom, you can add more flairs to your home. They'll be calling you "the hostess with the mostess" or the "host with the most" for all of your efforts. Take advantage of party favors as they are not only mentioned for wedding and other events. As Christmas and Hanukkah, Thanksgiving should be given importance. Setting the perfect Thanksgiving table only poses one problem, outdoing yourself next year! With all the available gorgeous seasonal favors and decor, that won't be problem. Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving never be a Burdensome and Painful

Saturday, 3 August 2013

Thanksgiving day becomes burdensome and painful when you lose someone you love. Its been seven years since brain tumor took Katie's life and we served no rutabagas as it was Katie's favorite vegetable. As being fellow travelers, I am sharing this part with you considering you as my family and you are mine. Its just the way life goes, losing people we love or they lose us. But when we suffer loss we question if we will ever overcome the pain of its paralyzing grief. We think we won't survive and we doubt we can ever feel happy again. Poor charlie once sighed, "I think I am losing control of the whole world." Giving thanks seems counter intuitive, too, when we only feel like crying. But we can give thanks and we can go on. Here are a few suggestions on how to go about it.

Even if you don't feel like walking, feel gratitude and say 'thank you for my feet' everyday when you woke up.

Listen to songs your loved one liked and cry in private but soon distract yourself by switching to different kind of music.

Meditation after a small walk could make you active.

To continue your journey through brief and sorrow, start writing a private journal in memory of your beloved.

If you do not feel like cooking, go to someone's home or to a movie. Hugging your children or grand children would make feel much better.

If you need, seek spiritual guidance.

Remember, the stages of grief and loss - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance are particularly intensified during the Thanksgiving holiday, so consciously reflect more on your many present blessings and less so on your sorrow and losses.

There are people who need you physically, emotionally and spiritually, consider them on this Thanksgiving even if your sad. why? Because they love you and they want to give you an extra hug. We all need those extra hugs when we are hurting.

Happy Happy Thanksgiving Wishes

Tuesday, 30 July 2013

Thanksgiving 2013 is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life; a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons. On Thanksgiving 2013, we do find something to be thankful for, and there may be reasons why we ought to be thankful for even those dispensations which appear dark and frowning.  It is delightfully easy to thank God for the grace we ourselves have received, but it requires great grace to thank God always for the grace given to others.  After all Thanksgiving 2013 was never meant to be shut up in a single day.

We should be thankful to our ancestors, who started the tradition in 1661 in order to thank God for a good harvest. Every fourth Thursday of November, people find time to spend with family and friends over a Thanksgiving dinner and gifts.

History of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day

is considered as a national holiday celebrated in United States and canada as honoring the early settlers and their harvest feast.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states.

During Thanksgiving, people played ball games, sang, and danced. Much of what most modern Americans eat on Thanksgiving was not available in 1621. Although prayers and thanks were probably offered at the 1621 harvest gathering, the first recorded religious Thanksgiving Day in Plymouth happened two years later in 1623. On this occasion, the colonists gave thanks to God for rain after a two-month drought.

It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday in October. The first Canadian Thanksgiving was observed on April 15, 1872, to celebrate the recovery of the prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) from a serious illness.
